It's so easy to help a child to hear and use all the syllables in a word - simply tap it out with them.

The trick here is to just model it with emphasis and tapping. There should be no expectation that they copy you and we really don't want to make them feel like they've said it wrong.
Older kids may really enjoy making it into a game like stomping out all the syllables in words or clapping or banging something.

Don't be afraid to use the word 'syllables' either - kids get it!! We shouldn't underestimate them.
