How to Teach your Little One to use a Straw
It's a big shift going from sucking in a nipple/teat to sucking on a straw and most kids don't pick it up straight away. It takes practice.
Knowing how to use a straw in incredibly helpful for parents because it means you can offer them a straw cup to drink from on the go. We know that sippy cups (with a wide, hard spout) aren't as good for little ones' swallow development amongst other things.
Try this tip to help them to use a straw - you can start from 6 months. A shorter straw will be easier for your child to use as the liquid won't have to move as far and they won't have to hold their breath for as long.
