Homemade Pizza

So in another bid to tempt sick August into eating something, we decided to make pizza. Super easy and HE ATE SOME - can't get more successful than that. What was SUPER COOL was that we baked them on our zaziplays table setting place mats. That's right. They are oven safe and you can use them as baking mats (reusable and better for the planet 🙌).

WHY DO THIS?
It's an easy way to get kids involved in the kitchen. Cooking is a great way for them to be exposed to new foods and textures. Even if they don't try the food at the end, it's a step in the right direction for them to explore it with their other senses like touch and smell. For kids with sensory needs/food aversions - cooking is so important.

HOW WE DID IT
🍕Ready made pizza bases
🍕a bag of grated mozzarella
🍕a tub of pizza sauce
🍕a tin of pineapple
🍕a packet of ready made roast chicken.

So all packets and tins. Not the healthiest thing in the world but the easiest for sure.

LANGUAGE OPPORTUNITIES
🗣 Name the ingredients
🗣 Name all the tools you'll need like spoon, knife, chopping board etc.
🗣 Narrate every step
🗣 Talk through safety re over door and oven mit
🗣 Talk about the shape of the pizza before and the shapes you cut it up into
🗣 label the flavours and textures you feel as you eat it, e.g. Juicy pineapple.

P.S. - pineapple on pizza is everything. Right?! You agree?!
