Teach your child to talk using Plydough
Throwback Thursday
A little video of Auggie (age 2years and 7 months) and I playing with playdough and retelling the story of the very hungry caterpillar.
Retelling stories with props is so fantastic for language development because it's an opportunity for children to explore the story tactilely (with their sense of touch) which can support them to VISUALISE new vocabulary. This is all great for comprehension and literacy later down the track.
Remember- your play dough doesn't have to look perfectly like the character or prop you're talking about. Think of it like a token representing something. You can use your imaginations to bring the playdough to life through the story.
Have you tried this? Let me know in the comments.
