π Share with a parent who's teaching their child to talk π
- Asking a lot of questions
Try: Comment on things they are doing and objects that catch their attention. Instead of βWhatβs this?β Say βa car!β
- Using Flashcards
Try: Modelling words and phrases for your child during play and daily routines.
- Saying β Say _________β
Try: Take away the pressure to perform. Model the words you think they want to say in the moment.
- Not using Sign of Gestures
Try: Use some basic sign. Signs are classed as first words.

- Withholding something until they say a word
Try: Pause and look at them expectantly to provide an opportunity for them to try. If they donβt model the words and give the item.
- Using Baby Talk
Try: Use normal grammar and pronunciation. Use a higher pitch, slow down and keep phrases short. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
