How to Tell if Your Child is Meeting Their Expressive Language Milestones

Write it down, guys!

I've been putting it off but today I took the time to start the list of words I know that Etta is saying consistently. This will mean I don't have to remember it all (Mam-brain, anyone?!) and I'll be able to track her progress.

Try to listen to your little one's word and write it down as they've said it. So they might say "Di sor" for dinosaur. If you ever do need to see a speech therapist, they can use data like this to pick up patterns in your child's speech and give you strategies to work on that. You'd be surprised how many children are reluctant to talk in front of a therapist, no matter how fun we can be!

So write it down and take control of YOUR child's language development. More info in my milestones highlight.

Do you track your little one's new words?
