When Your Child is Losing It

All behaviour is communication. More often than not, our children are communicating that they need our HELP.

We've had years of practice coping with our emotions and impulses and STILL we feel triggered and like we want to shout. Our children haven't had any practice coping with their feelings plus their brains are underdeveloped, so it's NO WONDER they're all over the shop.

Instead of losing it with your child that's losing it, try to model calm instead. We need to teach them strategies to calm their bodies.
  1. Find a calm space
  2. Step outside
  3. Deep breathe
  4. Stomp around
  5. Listen to music
  6. Move your body

Show them what they can do to cope. That way, they're more likely to be able to cope with big feelings in the future.
