School Holiday Activities: Lemonade Stand
Water play wins ⬇️
Sick kids? Set this up.
I set up this lemonade-stand play without fail when my kids are sick because it encourages them to drink more water!! Especially if you add straws!!
At its core - all you need for this activity is a tub of some description (Tupperware, storage boxes or ice cream containers will do), water and some of the kitchen tools from your drawers.
We add yellow food colouring, ice and sliced up manderin to make the water more appealing!! You could even add cordial if you were truly desperate for your sick kids to drink more! Hydration is key.
Kids learn so many things from this kind of play.
The magic really happens when you join in and model the kind of language you'd like them to be able to say.
"Can i have a lemonade please?"
"Ooh this is delicious"
"Can I have some more please?"
"3 ice cubes"
"tip tip tip"
"pour it"
"so juicy"
Remember if your child isn't using this kind of language yet, that's your cue to model it more, over and over again. Children AREN'T BORN with language waiting to come out, we have to teach them every single word. Play is the best way to do this!!
Set a lemonade stand up for your little one tomorrow. Even big kids love this one.
You've got this.
