My toddler was tired from Preschool and was a bit dis regulated - sensory play is always helpful for calming and focusing him.

Try not to have an agenda with sensory play. If they need to flick it all over the floor then let it be, especially if it’s easy to clean up like this.

After exploring the noises they could make with it, they both settled into independent play.
