Christmas Affirmations for Parents
You've got this.
Christmas is a magical time, but it’s far from a typical day. With so many changes, it’s natural to expect some difficult behaviors from kids.
While adults enjoy the anticipation of a big event, the unknowns of Christmas—presents, new routines, and excitement—can be overwhelming for children. Kids thrive on routine, and Christmas is anything but routine!
Think about it: the hype, changes in schedule, unfamiliar foods, new smells, different people, and new environments—it’s no wonder kids feel overwhelmed.
Remember this: children aren’t being difficult to test you, and they’re certainly not being "ungrateful." They’re simply struggling to cope and are asking for your help. These behaviors are their way of seeking connection.
Responding to your child with calmness and understanding is not spoiling or overindulging them. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You don’t need to justify your actions to relatives or anyone else—do what you know is best for your child in the moment.
You’re showing up for your child when they need you most, and that’s what matters.
You’re doing an excellent job—keep believing in yourself. You’ve got this.
